ONLINE MASTERCLASS: Yaa Amponsah, the Mother of West African Guitar

In this workshop we unpack one of most important guitar rhythms from the roots of Africa's earliest guitar tradition. First recorded in 1928, Yaa Amponsah has spread across the continent and diaspora in a rich tapestry of variations. Ethnomusicologist Nathaniel Braddock shares lore and disparate arrangements that he has gathered from many nations as this song has developed over the last century.
