: Ancient Greeks We've just completed work on our new album "Departure Suite" available from the Japanese label & Records, a subsidiary of NEOPLEX. Due out June 2005. Our debut record "the Song Is You" available on Flameshovel. : the Zincs Featuring songwriting by Englishman Jim Elkington. Recently completed record for Thrill Jockey records entitled "Dimmer", available April 2005. : Occidental Brothers Dance Band Intl We play classic 60's guitar pop from all over Africa, including Congolese rumba and dry guitar, Nigerian High Life, and S. African Marabi. I love this stuff. The group features Greg Ward, alto, Kyle Hernandez, contrabass and Dan Sylvester, conga. Check "Upcoming" for coming shows : Braddock Guitar Ensemble 12TET and microtonal music for mixed guitar ensembles, building on traditions of bell music, gamelan, and other process musics. Recently completed record entitled "If I were a bell I would Sing" to be available 2005. This music was sponsored by 2002 and 2004 CAAP grants from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. : Butcher Shop Quartet This group arranges iconoclastic work from the classical and orchestral repertoires for two electric guitars, electric bass guitar, and trap drums. We are most known for our arrangement of Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, featured at the 2004 Whitney Biennial. Current projects include a commission for Debussy's Claire de Lune, and an original suite by Malcolm X College's music chair, Mark Hardy. : Chicago Javanese Gamelan Traditional Central Javanese court music ensemble, working closely with the Chicago Indonesian Consulate and composer I. M. Harjito. We are in residence at the University of Chicago. home |
