AIR CONGO brings the sun-bleached sounds of Africa's golden-age guitar bands to New England. The complex rhythms and interweaving melodies of their Congolese soukous and African Jazz delight the relaxed listener and inspired dancer alike. The band is inspired by the great bands of 1960’s-70’s Kinshasa--the music of Docteur Nico, Tabu Ley, Franco et l’Orch TPOK Jazz--jazz and dance ravers of another age. Air Congo is led by guitarist Nathaniel Braddock who relocated to Cambridge, MA, in 2016. Braddock has collaborated extensively with musicians from Mali, Ghana, Congo, and Zambia, and also leads the celebrated Occidental Brothers Dance Band Int'l out of Chicago. In Air Congo, he is joined by a cast of Boston's hottest world music players from groups Kina Zore, Kotoko Brass, and the Macrotones.
