Teaching has been a cornerstone of my music practice since 2003—I value being part of a community of learners, and as a instructor it forces me to work continually to develop my conceptual depth.

I have been on faculty at many music schools, including ten years at the Old Town School of Folk music and heading the guitar department at the Chicago Waldorf School. I have been teaching online lessons with students around the world since 2014. I specialize in American fingerstyle and African guitar styles, but have broad experience. Below is a list of past courses and masterclasses that I’ve offered. For academic papers, please consult my academic CV. Please consult my calendar for upcoming online and in-person workshops.
